Why Cyan-Co?

In my presentation I was asked a simple question, “why Cyan-Co and why the logo” so here is the reason why.

Until presently I have been using “Cyan-Co” as my online “face” For Example I have a DevianART account under the name of Cyan-Co, there I tend to upload any drawing related items I do, and maybe the odd 3D Turntable and college related stuff. In addition I have recently created a YouTube Account under the name of Cyan-Co Animation”, there I will upload any video pieces, test or finished item, and both accounts have the same thumbnail avatar image, my Cyan-Co Logo.

Now, since Making “Cyan Co” I have started to put my logo somewhere in my drawings, but I noticed something when digging out some of my old school work, the logo was there, it’s always been there, I have subconsciously  been drawing this logo since I was in school,. Granted at that time it didn’t have pencils but still, the basic design was where

here are a few drawings I did before Cyan co was made/the logo, as you can see most of the logos appear as a clothing graphic, but also mainly only on the right shoulder of a male character

And here are the ones after Cyan-co was made. after i became aware of this logos appearance in some of my drawings i started to use it as my personnel logo,.  and as you can see below, it still appears on the right arm (With exemption of the PonyHeart,,,lets pretend we didn't see that example)

and here. on the fare right is the arm plate the elder brother wears in "brothers Revenge" for the sake of the animation (and time setting) i decided not to include the pencils, much like on Grim Reaper's Scythe. The Scythe's Logo Colour is red, for the soul preppies of consistency THe Reaper only have Black and Red, so having Blue/Cyan there would be off putting.

As for the name, its mainly a colour that I’ve liked since high school, but a more appropriate reason would be, out of all the colours “Cyan” is the name that simply sounds good. Before I went with “Cyan-Co” I was about to settle with “Crimson-co” again another colour name that sounds cool. “blue/ red-co” just doesn’t have that ring to it. in online gaming i once used the name "Cyan-Rose" then it changed to "Cyan-Core" Drop the RE and your left with co, "Cyan-Co"

20: Cyan-co ShowReel

I present to you Cyan-Co’s (My) show reel from the last two academic years. The show reel mainly focuses on animation (I hope) since that the corny plan I wish to follow (again I hope).  So in this Show reel you will find clippers from The Brothers’ Revenge, the Machinima project we just finished (well a week ago), and an animation X vs Y form last year *mumbles under their breath, and a MP related animation*

At times I am overly critical of my own work, but hey that’s normal right? The one to make it is always the first one to find fault, this made is somewhat difficult to pick the “good” bits from the animations to use, for example Brothers revenge, it’s a 1 minute of animation and it can do with some serious re working to smoothen out some of the “glitches”  so I picked the parts with less “glitch”  and my favourite part, where we look into the  wolfs eyes and we get a mini flashback to the younger brother, this part might only last 5 seconds, and was a last minute decision but I like it.

The only problem I faced with the show reel was the turn tables of the Troll and Alien, even though when testing with single renders the entire model was visible. Yet when I batch rendered it acted like they was a strong light in their face and not on their back, therefore part way into the turn tables they basically fade to black, I tried adding a light, and stills am thing fade to black. I was making the show reel last minute well 11pm - 4am. So I had little interest to “iron out the kinks”

19: Plans for next year/over the summer

Getting ready for CoP3 is a no brainier …

Over this coming summer I plan on improving my Skills with Maya, look deeper into Mayas settings, features and experiment with them, in addition with Maya, in which I mean research and look into Mayas Cloth, hair and maybe even Muscle simulators. This will also help with my Cop3 essay.

On the Note of maya, and animation, I intend on entering 11 second clubs contests, for the months during summer, AND the mast ones (since the audio can still be downloaded) you know for test purposes.

And on a final note,  if I get round to it, I would love to re visit Responsive and Improve on The Brothers Revenge, since I know it could have been better, in addition, I may also attempt to make it longer since a good 40% of the stories details were removed.

18: learning journey

On May 19th we were asked to present out learning journey throw this academic year. I opted to do a PowerPoint presentation,,, why, why did I opted for that.. I pretty much forgot what I was planning to say, but anyway.

My learning Journey, this year went by rather quickly and some of the briefs we were given were challenging and enjoyable.  So lest start

OUDF503: Responsive
Responsive was a challenging but enjoyable brief for me, the challenging part was finding a live brief I could respond to. The weeks were passing and I still didn’t have a brief I could respond to, that is until I came across //Filminute. Brief, well contest, make a 1 minute film/animation,  simple brief for a simple mind. now i needed to figure out what I wanted to do, an animation was a no brainer, but what to use, Maya or Blender.
Since I wasted fare too much time in fining a brief and story to use I left my self-short of time learn how to rig and animate in Maya, no time to test, no time to practice time to use Blender for the last time.

However since I was familiar with Blender I was able to produce the five required characters and settings in a matter of a couple of weeks,  in the end I was able to produce the 1 minute animation in a few weeks, if I handed wasted so much time at the start I would have been able to make it better.

OUDF504: VFX

VFX was my least favourite project by fare, mainly because film and photography is not my thing, and once again too much time was wasted trying to plan what I wanted to make and produce, One of my ideas would have had a humanoid creature (tree like) walking through an area and crating nature around it,,, buuut this would be too difficult, again at this point my knowledge with Mayas UV mapping, rigging were minimum.

But in the end I did pass this project, and I did learn how to use Mayas CV curves and paint tools for some interesting effects, as well as manipulating and “animating” a still image.

OUDF505: Machinima
Ah, machinima, our last project of the year, this was a semi enjoyable project, the project was simple enough, make a 1 minute cinematic in Unity how “simple”,   Not so simple when Maya was presenting us all with problems at every turn. However in this project I did lean one important thing, maya is very fussy when it comes it doing things in order, simply but not deleting the history of the model, or freezing the transformation of the control bones can break the model,,,
Over all this year I have improved my modelling and animating skills using Maya (thought there is still a lot of room for improvement), witch in its own right is a plus, most of my modelling skills were transferred over reliably easily from Blender to Maya. And hers a thought, the more I use Maya, the less I remember how use Blender,, sh!t.. ah well

17: Normal

As said, I have every intention on entering 11 second club, and they are no rule about what characters and/or programs you can use. So in theory I could use the ones I made for Responsive, but that wouldn’t work, since when I made them, the idea was they wouldn’t speak, so they have a very basic face rig, damn,,

But that’s ok, 11 second Club has several links to pre made rigs/models, I I downloaded a few, Morphius and Normal, after playing around and making them pull some odd faces, I come to the conclusion that Normal would be  more fun to use.

Humm Norman has a blender version, but its rig is just messy,, well its decided, Maya is better,, for this fight anyway, points go to Mayas Rig.. so anyway, Norman

Noramn is a free to download and use model/rig for use in animation, if desired and the knowledge you can make custom Normans, like some people have already. I personally like the Default Norman more. . Norman is Pre Rigged with both FK and IK contains in his arms and legs, for ease of use with sliders,

For me I prefer to use IK chains in the arms, for faster posing, I find moving each bone in the arm is just a bit too messy. However saying that, IK chains work from the base to top,  in the case for the legs, its hip to toe, and as for the arm, its shoulder to wrist,
But there is a problem, an IK chain can’t be move higher then this base point, well it can, but weird things will happen, like the elbow flipping beyond its limitation (think double jointed) so that’s a thing to look out for.

The Norman model has Control bones for almost every area of his body, and each control has an array of sliders that can change things like length, size, and visibility. His face Contoles also have a selection of controls, with these you can create an array of emotions and if needed you can even pull of a luny tunes kinda “eye poping out of the skill” kinda thing.. or the classic cartoon Jaw Dropping thing.

16: 11 second Club,

I had failed to keep track of 11 second club, or make any animations for it, however I did download the Norman Rig of broth Maya and Blender. And was suppressed to see a vast difference in the two programs, till now I’ve always thought that Maya was a little too “over complicated” with some of its settings,

But after playing around with Normans Rig in Maya I had fun, a little too much fun making him make off faces, then I tried Blenders version and could only get some of the setting to work.

11 Second Club is a monthly annual Contacts, they release an 11 second audio file each month that last,, 11 seconds, would have guess right and with it, you need to make an 11 second animation, this doesn’t have to be an animation in the scene of 3d, it can be traditional cell animation, stop motion, flash, or even game machinima (Ie TF2/Steam Film maker)

The contest is purely fun based, since to my knowledge they is no reword, well, they is, you improve your kills, and push yourself to Rank up for 1st place,, if you come 1st, your animation is reviewed by a real animater, and they will give you professional  feedback, advice and pointers on how it could be improved, + for them who are looking to work in animation, 11 second club is the perfect starting point to envelope a portfolio of work. in addition to thsi, the winner also has their video featured on the main page, aswell as on the web sites banner

15: Blog Post – Re Competition Brief

Contest Updates:. Regrettably and annoyingly I have not entered any contest, from loopDeHoop or 11 second club,, this is a problem, why? Because the purpose of the contests is to build our skills, in both self-directed studies/tasks and to develop our awareness and out chosen media. For me this has seriously hindered my animation development. For the most part I have the “bases” down but the 11 second club and their shot monthly contests would push me to develop these kills further, in addition it would also help me improve my predictability and work flow in Maya.

The reason I didn’t get around to making anything were 2 things, at the time I was not confident with using Maya, and secondly some of the audio tracks were,, not the best, for example 2 months back the audio was an explosion of some kind

Now that I have built some understanding of Maya I can and will be entering the contest each month, and when im waiting I can practice more with some of its archived audio tracks.

14: Demo Reel/ Show Reel

This year we were instructed to think about, and produce a Show reel of our own work, from both college related projects, contests/client work, and even self-development work. These  Show Reels/ Demo wheels are key for showing off our strength  and they may help us get noticed. In addition a show wheel allows others to see what you have been upto and how you may have developed.

Things to keep in mind when making demo Reels/ show Reels are..

Tips for Creating Demo Reel

DOs
· Include only your best work
· Start and end with your strongest piece
· Tailor your demo reel to your dream job
· Know your strengths and focus on them
· Keep it short and simple
· Leave them wanting more
· Ask your friends for feedback

DON'Ts
· Don't include work that you don't have approval
· Don't include work that you don't love to do
· Don't worry about the music
· Don't put work that you didn't do
· Don't add things to fill space
· Don't assume that your entire reel will be watched

So with that list in mind, one think is clear, show off your good/best bits of work (even if its only small parts of a whole) and pretend that the less then passable work is forgotten.

13: Blog Post – 11 second club

11 Second Club is a anural (monthly) animation contest, not limited to 3D animation, the only real given rule is, its has to be 11 seconds. As for the animating  aspect as said its not just 3d, it can be clap motion, stop motion, or traditional. Though you don’t win a “prize” for winning, you do gain experience, and helpful comments, and if you do win, your animation is reviewed by a professional.

But the best part of 11 second club is, they give you all you need, from the 11 second audio clip, to characters and riggs to use. But if you wish you can use your own characters,.

Hopefully I can get some of these contests done,,

12: Blog Post - Competition Brief(s)

For PPP2 we were asked to identify a Contest (perpetually and anural one) that we could create content for, this would help us develop our skills for our selected studies independently. Or alternatively we could attend an event(s)/festival(s) or conference(s) related to our studies.

I opted for the contest since I want to further expand my skills in animation, so fare they are “basic”, and lacking any realism, for example my main area for self-improvement is with weight, my animations don’t have any “weight” but I am improving,, I hope

Animation, so I need to find and enter some animation related contest, small problem, I had no idea where to look, but I was given advice and directed by my tutor to two places, 1st is 11Second Club, and the other was Loop De Hoop.  I directed to go with 11 second clube, as I feel they could help me improve.

11: BAF Animation Festival: Lee Hardcastle

As I said befor, I didn’t enjoy this year’s BAF as much as last years, I do intent on attend next years. But first, to talk about the one Guest speaker I did enjoy, was Lee Hardcastle

Lee Hardcastle is a British Claymation Animator, he best known for his Claymation animations and their funny/dark sense humour and graphic violence; it’s safe to say his YouTube Channel is not for the faint of heart or for kids.

When you think of Claymation you think of  Wallace and Gromit, and when you think of Gore Things like Happy Tree Friends comes to mind, but when you think of Gory Claymation (and if you know of him) only Lee Hardcastle, Lee sees his self as a director and scripted writer then an animater, however he is a one manned crow,, he makes his own models, animates them and when possible he will do the voice casting himself rather than relying on other people,

At BAF he showed us two pieces of his current work, the 1st being T is for Toilet, His collaboration with eh ABCs of death,..

and the other short he showed was his personal favourite “An Alien Claymation”  its shows a fathers’ devotion to protecting his baby from visiting aliens that are trying to put said baby in the microwave, this short 2 minutes 40 second animation is full of blood, the green alien kinds’  Lee’s Favourite part of the short is the ending when the dad says to the wife “aliens tried putting the baby in the microwave”, to which the wife reply’s with a simple “again”. Does this kind of thing happen a lot Lee?

10: BAF Animation Festival

This year I attended the Bradford Animation Festival 2014(?) following last year’s selection I was eager to re visit the festival and see a new selection of animations and Guest talks.

However This year’s selection were dark, disturbing and crude humour, however they were some good animations that I did enjoy but regrettably I can’t seem to remember the selected animation names,, or, even what happened in them,, this blog was left too long to write up…

Say that even though this year’s selection was darker then last years, some were good, some were questionable, but a lot of them (unlike last year) were 2d and stop motion,  they were entertaining to watch but again, not a lot of this year’s event was too memorable.

I was surprised to see one animation there, well story “Death By Scrabble”. This is an old story, and its details how a husband fed up with his life and his wife he finds out that hes given some powers,, the power to create events via the words he places on scrabble. The reason this was a surprise to me, is because in the Summer one of the CreepyPastas I listen to was, Death By Scrabble-Charlie Fish

09: Online Resources

Online Resources, much like Social Medias, are a great ways to gathering information and accepts for whatever project, task and assignment that you may be undertaking. One of the main uses for Online Resources is Research, research into the current project you’re doing, research into things that will influence your next decisions and research into well, anything hat will help you move along. For example, VFX, for this project it was ]important to research into multiple key factors, mostly “how-To”s.  and tutorials

08: Using Social Media for Research

Social Media sites can be used to make yourself heard and it allows you to make contacts with the right people.  Social Media Sites are a fast ways to gather “research” materials, as it give you virtually instant access to people who might have some helpful advice. But not only this, it allows you to stay connected and up to Date with current events, styles and trends. Social Media Sites aren’t just limited to such places like Twitter, Tumbler or Facbook, Social Media basically covers all forms of sites that support feedback on works and means to strike conversations with others. In addition to this, all form of Social Media are a great source of information and ideas and inspiration,

07: Blog Post - Identify a useful Network

Last year we were asked to make a twitter account and “follow” people, (related to our area of studies) yet in all honesty seconds after making the account I simply forgot about it, am not a huge fan on the Net. Today we have many different ways of wing “networking” to be heard and seen by others, but as of late the overuse ones like faceBook and, Youtube and DeviantART are NOT the best places to be seen, Since Facebook is more about Updating statuses for friends to see, or like DA and Youtube you have a hard time being seen due to the hours of, well pointless “bad” content, plus DA and Youtube don’t really have a Filtering System that can be used to find things relevant to us.

As said Networking Is Important for being seen and heard, but at the same time its hard since we will always have competition to face. Hack Even Games such as MMO likes Spiral Knights can be used for networking. people like fan atm but on a note on Spiral Knights, some, if not all of the OOOs Staff members have their own (custome) knights, and drop in to "heaven" now and then for a Q & A talk with people, this is a great opportunity fo people to ask questions about say developing game, or art work,

06: My Skill Set(s)

I am here on my 2nd year on GFGA,

I am unsure of where my Skill set(s) and or full interests lie. But I have prevised experience with 3D (Modelling/Animating programs.  Over some 6 years I have been introduced to a number of programs/applications.
I’m more at home with modelling and animating, as I can’t do texturing in Maya. I am capable of modelling ‘props’ and characters, as well as character designing.

My drawing style is mostly a cartoony-realistic. I try to avoid giving an “Anime feel” in my drawings.

For my final year on Interactive Media at Leeds City College, I made a 7-minute animation for my FMP, where I worked on it for 7 weeks solo. This meant I had the challenge of:

Planning, character/ set/prop design story boarding, modelling/texturing/Rigging/animating/rendering

Here is a Small list of programs I used and why

*[MMD] (Miku Miku Dance) –a program where you can download pre made models of VOCALOID and animate them… I used it mainly to make small animation test/”funnies’ method of animating in [MMD] is manual. Meaning I had to animate each ‘Bone’ separately

*Blender 2.49b- 2.9– is a FREE 3d modelling and animation program, it preforms just under Maya… I have used Blender for 6 years and will still continue to use it along side of Maya, with blender I am capable of modelling a “human’ rig it, texture it and animate it with minimum problems

*Maya 2012-2014– I’ve used Maya for a year now, I find it simple but annoying to use at time as I occasionally will mix up its short cuts with Blenders but it take me a little longer to model something.

[Update]: I have gained more confidence with using maya,.

*GIMP 2.6-2.8/Photoshop. I have used (and still use) GIMP for digitally colouring hand drawn drawings and texture mapping for Blender/Maya. I am more comfortable using GIMP over Photoshop.

05: SWOT

We were shown a few examples of SWAT sheets analyses of others, and were asked to identify our own SWOTS, so, um yeah.

SWOT /
Strengths
-3D modelling and animation-

Weaknesses
-Team work (I will work in a group, but I prefer to work alone)
-Time Management: I neglect to produce and stay to time schedule
networking- I’m an introvert and find it hard to talk openly to others.
Opportunities
???

Threats
-
other people I  have to compete against
-Being heard/seen

04:What I did over summer: Drawing and DeviantART (3/3)

With the referrals out of the way it was time to relax, music on ~check~ favoured Mechanical pencil (0.7mm HB 2) ~check~ and after watching some of ‘Mark Crilley’s’ “How-To-Draw” videos I started to challenge myself with improving my drawing style, to move away from an overused manga style and try a semi realistic approach (kind of failed).  To try and find my own style that works for me.

With no fresh ideas I dug out my old school sketchbook and selected half decent images to improve and digitally colour.  Since I normally make my own ‘Steam Avatars” some of my online friends wanted to see more, and asked me to send them. Me not being too comfortable with emails, I made a DeviantART account under the name of Cyan-Co.

Soon after Friends Asked me to Draw his Spiral Knight and Sprite Character/pet from OOO’s game Spiral Knights to use for his YouTube Channel, so I agreed and made this. this was the 1st time drawing something for someone other them my self, and it was an interesting experience

A few weeks passed and I started to talk to one of my friends about creepy pasta. And she dared me to draw my version of CreepyPasta’s much-used SlenderMan and Jeff, so I did. And it helped me to understand the relationship of lights and shadows to create depth and feeling, as well as the scene are just as important as the characters. So now anything I draw is now upload to DeviantART. Enjoy. DA cyan-co

03: What I did over summer: Referral (2/3)

Other than wasting hours on end watching animations and listening to OST of games and movies as well as watching/playing them, I sent to work on my referral. My ‘Artefact’ was intended to be an Art History motion timeline ~think opening credits of “The Big Bang Theory” but because I left it too late and with limited Skill on Final Cut Pro I ended up with a poorly put together timeline.

Though I would have proffered not getting a referral but it’s understandable since I didn’t complete all tasks, so I took this as an opportunity to “upgrade” it by making it a semi interactive ‘Game Space” this was something that would have been harder at the time, since during PPP1 deadline we haven’t be shown how to use Unity since we had only just started the Animation Brief if I recall.

To avoid a 2nd referral I made sure I collected my timeline’s information from a number of sources. Wiki was just used as a starting point, until I ended up with a rather confusing timeline that explored a variety of art history. Some countries and areas were cut, focusing in the “Drawing” Art rather then sculpture, Architecture and inventions. With the timeline blueprint I started on the game space,

How would it look?
How would the player interact?
How even look around?
How would it be arranged?

The answer to these and a few others I asked myself were simple, I single path Maze. The “art” and time periods would have their own respected walls. If a time period crossed over (ie 1864-1885 AD Impressionism and 1885- 1910 AD Post-Impressionism) would have a side area. And so on till the player ends up in CGI, the latest idea of “Art” .In the idea of the 21st century art being digital.

The timelines hall was fun to make even though it took me some time to work out how cross sections of the roof would work; in the end I made a timeline where the player would literally walk though time.

02: Addicted to Creepypasta

[WARNING: Viewer Discretion advised when watching/listening to the YouTube links, Creepypasta Contains graphic Descriptions of death and violence]

As said, over the summer I found out about CreepyPasta, and I’ve read/listen to them just about every night since then.

CreepyPasta is an internet meme, and are seen as ghost stories and fan fics,. But they are more complicate then that, most of the stores are given extra deaths via multiple means, fillings, emotions settings, and detail, some of no all CreepyPastas go into extreme gory detail and events, Some of the writers tire in current events into the story, examples of such usage can be seen in
“The Truth Behind [insert childhood cartoon here] with some past event
“SCP Files” that list power normal phenomena throughout history
Earbon lagans/myths  that tie into historic events, such as CreepyPastas most know story, SlenderMan (though most if not all images of him are edited) yes saying that, some old woodcarvings were found that depicted a tall being with tendril like arms, hum

CreepyPasta is a single title that branches out into

GamingPastas: sad/scary stories basied on games, not much to say on this, its just stories of Cursed and hounded Game disks, the most “famous one” is Ben Drowned” (legend of zelda majora's mask)

TheoryPastas -theses contain connections and thoughts behind cartoons- two of the best examples re Pokémon, and “ashes coma theory” ( ) think about it, since Pokémon started, hes never aged, and even though he’s “14” and alone, hes never in danger, or how the friends he means are always so different, or the best, why, in every Pokémon series, in every town and city no matter where Ash goes, team rocker are always there 1st, or the fact that every town he goes to always has a nurse joy and officer jenny, (two people seen in in Ashes home town) hum,

MicroPastas short stories that make you wonder and question your sanity, such as “ A letter From a Serial Killer” the story plays out like a confession, or a note from a person, but in the end there is a twicst “your friend time”,,, the letter details the effects of time, and not a person,,  *mind blown*

A more disturbing series by Creepypasta narrators MrCreepyPasta and MissShadowLovely’s  “brother dear sister dear” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkuufA4oqzY ) a too and thro conversation between a psychopathic brother and sister about how they will dispatch of their victims on graphic detail

FeelPastas: these mainly contain sad stories and events, stories that make you feel sad for the charecters.
Such as in “Your Secret Admirer”  Details how a new girls is bulled and picked of because she’s “too perfect”, everyone wants to be her, and everyone hates her. The plays out as a confession to a girl, and how this boy took revenge on these new girls bullies in violent and horrific faction. This story is moving because due to the detail (and the way its narrated) makes you feel sorry for the girls pain..

Or my 2nd favorite  “The Immortal Soldier”  as the same suggest, the story is the detailed “journal” of a soldier in 1917 France, who (after getting the order to “go over the top”) he woke up in hospital in 1919..later into the story he’s enlisted into the 2nd would word, where he was shot though the heart, and he died, yet he was still alive.  he discovers he’s stopped aging and cant die (even if he tried)… the story is sad because of the way it’s written, the passing of the story and the fact this Soldier is forced to witness everyone he loves die before him from age and how, when he tried to get help, the Scientist treated him like a lab rat, doing experiments on him, seeing how much pain he could stand,, they even tried to kill him, starve him, stab him, cut limbs of,, and letting him heal before they start again

by the end of the story he (should) start feeling sorry for the Solider with his next actions. With the endless pain, and sorrow he’s faced with watching his loved ones pass away, and the would pass by, with no way to die, he decided to tie an acker to his legs and  sink to the bottom of the option to be crushed by the depths

RitualPastas, theses are a deadly sets, CreepyPastas that AREN’T fake or made up, they follow well, Rituals and games, such as “How To Pay Hide and Go Seek Alone”,  the game is simple, you use a Doll, and a set of rules steps to summon a spirit, the story details how after setting the game up you place the doll in the bathroom, and call “1st tagger is “(doll name)” then you go to the doll and say “I found you(dolls name) and stab it with your weapon (pencil), then it’s the dolls turn, now it gets dangerous as you might die,,, this game has had reports from the players that when returning to the room, the doll has moved,, outside the door from where you were hiding.

01 What I did over summer: (1/3)

What I did over summer.

My summer was eventful and rather dull. Most of the time I was simply emerged I YouTube mainly animation and drawing related topics. Watching such things as ‘Rooster Teeth’s’ Animation series Red, White, Black, Yellow or [RWBY]

Rooster Teeth would release a teaser video (between 3-5minuets) of [RWBY] Characters, the release dates for each teaser was as follows

“Red” (Ruby) on November 7th, 2012,
“White” (Weiss Schnee) on February 14th, 2013
“Black” (Blake Belladonna) on March 22nd, 2013
“Yellow” (Yang Xiao Long) on Jun 1st, 2013

Each Teaser was made to show off each characters weapon and Skills as well as give you a small “glimpse” into their character; each teaser also had an adapted version of [RWBY] opening credits theme. However the teasers contained more action driven scenes that were miss-leading to the actuarial series.

IN addition to hours on Youtube rotting my brain with CreepyPasta…

17: Animating

In the New Group, i was put in charge of completing the final 20 seconds of the animation, where the girl accidentally breaks a trick, attracting the Trolls attention to her presence. In the story the girl enters the Trolls Cave and, im assuming she is after the Large Glowing Gem that placed inside the tree (i say i assume because this fact is un clear, other then her looking at it).

they was a small challenge on animating the Trolls and Girl in a small area, since the Troll has to appear around the Tree and look at her, problem, the Troll is wider then the tree and considerably bigger then the girl, another small problem i had to face was the Trolls size, die to it size it effected its over all movability around the tree, and what camera angles could be used since in the story bored most of the shots had both the Troll and The Girl in the same scene.

in the end the main problem i had was the short time space to fit a "action" scene, the original idea had the Troll attacking the Girl. and the Girl moves out of the way but the seconds part showed the girl take a step back, and the troll moving towards her as said, the size of Troll to the Smallness of the Girl effected the over all movement and pace..

the final result if found to be slightly rushed and improvised, improvement definitely needed

16: Troll Finals

As said before, the trolls modelling was interesting, this is the first time i've modelled a Humanoid creature fully in Maya. and with such odd proportions.  like is said in the other post, the loin cloth was arrogating to place but simple to model.

i was debating with my self on how many faces the back rock and cloth should contain. give the rick more faces so the texture stretches less, but run a high rick of the "rock" looking too smooth. or leave them low polly, this would keep the rick jagged, even if/when smoothed up, BUT this would also mean they would be a lot of stretching in the textures and mesh

I later decided to go as low polly as physically possible but this did mean they would be some stretching of he was to move to much, but saying that. its a rock, how much movement will he be able to pull of?.. minimum really. in the end im happy with the result, saying that, it wouldn't have hurt too much to add a few extra polygons around the face and shoulder.

And again, here are the final results. his bag still passes though his body when he moves too much.
