Cut-Out

CUT OUT animation was a traditional and simple animating technique where the animator would use a 2D cut-out of a character or object either had drawn or sauce from a magazine. If drawn each cut-out would be in a variety of poses and possessions and animated much like stop-motion with each frame being taken individually,

Here is an example of cut-out animation; this is a music video by Serj Tankian called lie lie lie
this music video is just Bizarre and strange.

As I said before “was” like most old animating techniques it’s being replaced or replicated by computer programs.  An example of this is South Park, the pilot episode and some of season 1 was cut-out animation, but it was later replaced with a 3D program. But saying this the opening credits I think are still cut-out since you see each character being made and animated.

On a related note last year me and Jamie McLoughlin made a small project from Leeds City College/Thomas Danby the theme was retro games and we decided to do a good old cut-out animation
