17 of 32: Character Dev2, concept art 3, Grey / shadow wold

Now it’s on to the big bad wo…sorry the Grey Wolf and Shadow/Black Wolf..

the Grey Wolf will be designed to appear scary at 1st, but that will quickly fade, his will be about the same size as little red (when standing he will come to her shoulder). It wont be design from any one breed of wolf, but rather a combination of several images, body types, fur types and eye shades. However the Grey wolf (more white then grey) will have some markings.

The antagonist of the story, and least seen character, the black/ shadow Wolf.. this creature will have two forms, one being a black wolf (the ones that are seen rummaging and hiding behind bushes and running past trees in the distance) and finally the Shadow Wolf… the one hiding in wait in Granny's cottage waiting for little red to enter to her doom,,,

The Black Wolf will share a similar body type and design to the Grey wolf, but will black, but as for the shadow wolf, it will only be seen in short burst and it will be hiding inside the darkness. So the only real thing you can see from the shadow wolf is,,,well two big glowing eyes, razor sharp teeth and  claws. This means (and as the slightly rushed concept shows) only the front half of the Shadow Wolf will ever be seen, the rest will either be a mist or a simple blur. Also as said before the shadow Wolf will share a similarity to the Egyptian God Anubis.

Maybe a re-design is in order?. Keeping Mika’s design the same (face and hair) I make the rest of her more or less proportionate and somewhat “real”.  After writing the story, and re-reading it, I noticed something I over looked, “As night falls a young girl named Mika is sitting on her bed happily reading a book”… “nightfall”… “bed”… “book”… *CLICK* BEDTIME!. I should re distend Mika and change her cloths from her daytime red hoody and such, and put her in some “standard” Pyjamas since you know,, it is bed time right…

So keeping with the striped hoody design, she will be wearing a (flower/ butterfly print) Buttoned up stripped Pjamras, and she will have a red cloak around her neck (post credits/after dream sequence ends)

Now happy with the design of the clothing, and a slightly longer skirt I was happy to finalise her design. Using a base sketch I made for Mika, (so both Mika and Red would look the same, and have the same proportions as each other,,,since they are the same person) with this sketch and Mika's I draw a back version, just so I would be able to visualise her design, for both modelling and story boring purposes.
Unlike Mika's model, Little Red will go through three stages. Stage 1 is normal, perfect..
Stage 2 will contain a slight cut on her Right hand and blockish of dirt (since she fell down and cut her hand)

stage 3 is where the story ends, with Red tumbling out from the woods/bushes, this means she will have the odd cut, a few grazes and scratches, dust and slightly tattered cloths (mainly Cloak)

Following the quick doodles using the original concept based of Mika (from CoP3) to draw other, i decided to build upon it and re design another 3 sets. The main focus here is the clothing, so the faces are black, and the model is different (I was gonna changed the proportions back to a more cartoony version, but decided to stay with this version more)

Far left design: is much like the middle design I did before, but I changed the skirt and boots so it connected more with the real world version of Mika. Still trying to keep with the idea of  modern times, but still its just not really fitting

middle Design: this design is a re design of the fair right design from before, but this time I used some real world clothing reference, clothing styles from “gothic/ punk” where dark colours are used with brighter vivid lining/ boarders., large boots and a hybrid of old-ish and modern styles..maybe
fair right design: a simple yet effective deign, straight out of a fantasy medieval realism style, where peaces of fabric are crudely put together with harsh visible stitching leaving a oldis handmade feel to the clothing.

Edit: I have noticed that in the drawing stage, with the proportions of her, it makes the skirt seem a little…short, too short, so when it comes to modelling I will make the skirt a little longer to be more “decent”

with the mood bored of Little Red done, I neglected to think about the Real World version, Mika.  The reason I neglected to do anythgin for this one is because the original plan was to be lazy, and just re use the model I made/used for my CoP3 Arafat. But…as much as I liked her cartoony look and feel. It didn’t seem right, that and her design was wearing a red hoody. But with this in mind, I started to so some concet art on how she/red riding hood might look,,,well mainly how the clothing would look. Draft one done,,,

* the fair left design is the real would Mika, using a simple red sheet as a cloak, nothing much to say
* the middle design we have a more 21st century design, with hair clips, stripped hoody, skirt and knee hight boots.

the fair right design is an attempt at a more medieval/ fantasy  style.
But,,,they didn’t feel right…the middles one seemed too modern for the story of Little Red,,,the fair right seemed too “anime-ish” in design, and the far left one is just,,,meh

Note: this concept art was made BEFORE the story was planned
