CGI (3D)

CGI (3D) or Computer Generated Imagery. CGI as the name suggests uses computer graphics to create a static and dynamic scene or images. CGI is used for a wide variety of media but mainly used in films, games and or animations to create stunning effects or scenery that wouldn’t be possible to do in reality. Most CGI images were made using a 3D application even though the final CGI image would be flat and static the original scene would still be 3D. CGI programs opened a new window for creativity.

3D/CG- Animation is similar to stop motion in the respect that the animator would have to animate the characters or props by ‘Hand’ bit by bit in a 3D environment. But unlick Stop Motion, not every single frame needs to be animated. In CG animation you only need to set key frames every 3,6 to 12 frames depending on how complex the scene is because the animating program would calculate the path from A (hand by the side) to frame B (hand in the air). CG animation will also allow the animator to pull off more dramatic movements and actions without little problems like gravity for example.
